Toning:
First of all what does being toned look like? The more muscles you show and the less fat you have covering it is how being toned looks like. Doing toning exercises will help you see your muscles better than they are at the moment. Muscle + Less fat = tone. To achieve toning you must lose enough fat so that the muscle can be seen instead of a layer of fat. Use mat when you doing exercises that involve laying on the floor. Here are some additional tips to help you accomplish your toned look, because doing strength exercises are not the only elements that support toning:
- Eat a well balanced diet
- Drink the correct amount of water
- Sleep at least 8 hours a night
- Do everyday life activities that are energizing like dancing, cycling and walking
- After you have gotten stronger try challenging yourself by making each exercise harder
To remember and keep in mind:
- Give your muscles at least 2-3 days of rest in between each workout, because your body isn't used to working so hard. Consider a substitute, do every second day flexibility exercises or yoga to give your muscles time to rest.
- Keep track of what you do every time by writing it down in a journal. This way you can see how you improve each day and may give you a chance to think of goals you would want to reach day by day.
- Use other activities to push you forward:
- Run everyday for 15 minutes
- Kayaking
- Swimming
- Dancing
- Bowling
- Tennis (tones arms)
- Apply in everyday life:
- Watch diet and get in the right weight
- Avoid elevator and take the stairs
- Carrying grocery bags
- Washing
- Cleaning
- Climbing hills
